Occupational and Hand Therapy

Occupational therapy is a valuable tool to restore independence in daily activities such as dressing, eating, bathing and personal grooming. Therapists at Mary Greeley Medical Center Rehab & Wellness also work with patients on specific needs to help them return to their work and leisure activities. Hand therapy is available for those patients recovering from accident or trauma, or suffering from conditions such as arthritis or carpal tunnel syndrome.

Our Staff

Our licensed occupational therapists are experienced in helping patients suffering from chronic, physically disabling conditions, cognitive impairment, sensory deficits and learning disabilities. They work with patients who have experienced injury or orthopedic surgery, such as carpal tunnel syndrome, tendinitis, shoulder and elbow injuries, fractures, hip replacement, knee replacement and others ailments. Occupational therapy is also helpful for patients recovering from stroke, head injury or major surgery.

Our therapists use state-of-the-art equipment and the latest, most effective techniques to help patients achieve success.

Before treatment the therapist will evaluate a patient's condition and needs and develop an individualized therapy plan. This may include the use of exercises, electrical stimulation, hot packs or cold packs, water therapy or deep-tissue massage to increase strength, mobility and coordination, or to relieve pain. If necessary, therapists will teach patients how to use adaptive techniques and equipment to make daily activities easier.

Our Locations

Occupational therapists work with inpatients in the hospital, usually in our Skilled Nursing Unit or Rehabilitation Center. Once patients return home, many continue therapy on an outpatient basis.
